This is why corruption runs so deep in our country – because we have a whole generation of people who have been brought up to believe that they are servants, and that their duty in life is only to please their master.
It is this servant mentality that has allowed corruption to thrive in Malaysia. As long as we continue to think of ourselves as servants, we will never be able to break free from the chains of corruption that bind us. We will never be able to see ourselves as free men and women, capable of making our own decisions and choosing our own destiny.
Democracy is not the solution to corruption in Malaysia. It is merely a band-aid that covers up the rot that lies beneath. If we truly want to rid our country of corruption, we need to first rid ourselves of the servant mentality that has held us back for so long. We need to start thinking of ourselves as free men and women, capable of standing on our own two feet and making our own choices.
Only then will we be able to truly call ourselves a free and democratic nation.
