Belgische coproductie ‘Flow’ bekroond als beste animatiefilm op Europese Filmprijzen

‘Flow’, een Belgische coproductie van de Letse regisseur Gints Zilbalodis, heeft op de European Film Awards de prijs voor beste animatiefilm gewonnen. Een andere Belgische coproductie, ‘Savages’ van Claude Barras, viel in die categorie buiten de prijzen.

De Belgische documentaire ‘Soundtrack To a Coup d’Etat’ van Johan Girmonprez kon evenmin zijn nominatie verzilveren. In de categorie van beste documentaire won ‘No Other Land’ van het Israëlisch-Palestijns collectief Yuval Abraham, Rachel Szor, Basel Adra en Hamdan Ballal. Veelwinnaar was zaterdag de komische misdaadfilm ‘Emilia Pérez’ van de Franse regisseur Jacques Audiard. Die kaapte met beste film de hoofdprijs weg, maar haalde ook de prijzen voor beste regie, beste script en beste actrice met Karla Sofía Gascón binnen. Beste acteur was dan weer Abou Sangare (‘Souleymane’s Story’). Voor beste film waren onder andere ook ‘Soundtrack To a Coup d’Etat’ en vier Belgische coproducties genomineerd: naast ‘Flow’ en ‘Savages’ ging het nog om ‘Bye Bye Tiberias’ van Lina Soualem – ook genomineerd voor beste docu – en ‘Vermiglio’ van Maura Delpero, die in aanmerking kwam voor de prijs van beste regisseur.

Tot slot was ‘Wander To Wonder’ van de Nederlandse Nina Gantz nog een Belgische coproductie die in aanmerking kwam voor een Europese filmprijs, in de categorie beste kortfilm. ‘The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent’ van Nebojsa Slijepcevic trok uiteindelijk die categorie naar zich toe. De European Film Awards – ook wel de Europese Oscars genoemd – worden sinds 1988 uitgereikt. Dit jaar vond de ceremonie plaats in het Zwitserse Luzern.
